Remember that an impressive resume is important when finding an employer. List all your skills and try to set yourself apart from the rest of the pack. In this article, prestigious college institutions are discussed as great places to earn an education, however it does not provide a guarantee. It truly matters what you did with your education rather than where you received it from.

One great tip would be to study abroad or away from home. Journalism is all about getting out there and reaching the story. Maybe there is a topic that you feel passionate about and would like to enlighten others.

“Journalism, as Barton Gellman noted, is a craft. And that means you should never stop learning, whether it's in the classroom or in the newsroom.”

Today, the need for multimedia journalists is on the rise. Not only is the written word essential to the story, but also how you present it. Make documentation of events through photographs and notes. You can then take this information and place them into slideshows and video clips. The best journalists are always prepared.
