According to the Greater Washington Network:

Six Rules to Web Writing

  1. Create content for readers
  2. Show them the benefits
  3. Write to reach them
  4. Write more concisely
  5. Format for scanning
  6. Become interactive

Basically...

  1. Pick a topic.
  2. Tell your readers: What's the point?
  3. Speak for all audiences…Hemmingway was known for his use of simple words.
  4. Break down the content to the important details.
  5. Make everything easy on the eye.
  6. Animate your topic with multimedia tools…there are tons!

Smarter Surfing

Google is awesome. That may sound like a bias statement but the tools provided by the Internet search engine are useful. Millions of people internationally use Google as a home page. Google provides a plethora of storage for its E-mail account users. You’ll never need to delete a message again and the spam filter is extensive in removing junk. Stay connected with alerts, news and video through RSS feeds and hyperlinks. If you need a calculator, map, calendar, dictionary, language translation or to search through print editions of books, Google is here to help. Additionally, Froogle allows Google users to quickly view numerous shopping Web sites in one click. There is no longer a need for a middleman like Jeeves, sorry buddy.

Quick Tips:

Use Firefox as your default browser so that a Google search widget is provided in the top right corner.

Also a Google desktop allows you to search data on your computer including instant messenger chats, Internet searches as well as MS Word documents. If you’re a Mac user like me, you’re equipped with Spotlight, which works flawlessly with the latest version of OSX.
