I have done storyboard assignments before.
Several details implemented in this lesson made a big difference
in the success of the overall project. Prior to this, I would
collect storyboards and scripts as students finished the video
editing and were ready to turn in a finished project. This year
I collected the scripts and made suggestions before students
were allowed to proceed to storyboard stage. All of the groups
except one needed to go back and concentrate more on adding
historical detail. I was able to bring them back to the
definition of a treatment, emphasize again the purpose
(education) and the audience (6th grade history
students) and have them revise to more clearly target the
objective.
Next, I collected the storyboards
after the first class that students worked on them. This was for
two reasons. One, I had witnessed too many groups in prior years
having to begin again after losing their initial effort. Second,
I wanted to look over the students’ work so far. I was able to
make some corrections early on from which students could learn
and then implement for the rest of the project. |
