Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is the second game in the Legacy of Kain franchise. The game follows the vampire Raziel as he seeks revenge on the vampire Kain. The game features both combat and puzzle solving. The combat is fairly simple, with basic combat involving locking onto an enemy and attacking them. However, the game really shines when it focuses on puzzle solving. Much of the game is puzzle solving, with combat serving as a break between puzzles. The game was originally released in 1999 and holds up fairly well today. However, the game still has some archaic mechanics. The save system in particular does can be troublesome. While you can save wherever you like, you always start the game at the beginning, with a teleporter transporting you to previously visited areas. This would be fine if there was so some or map, but there is no map available to the player Instead the player is forced to memorize the location of previously visited areas. I recommend have pen and paper handy to write down the location of previously visited areas. Another issue with the game is that it does not feature Xbox 360 controller support. I recommend using the program Xpadder to play using an Xbox 360 controller as works fairly well. I would recommend Soul Reaver to anyone who enjoys action and adventure games similar to the Legend of Zelda.
