A blend of action and horror, Resident Evil 4 is a unique and incredible third person shooter that was released in 2005 to critical acclaim. The game was recently re-released for the PC for digital download stores like Steam by its publisher Capcom. The game plays just as well as when it was released, minus a few complaints. The game retains its so called tank controls, where the player has to stand still to aim. While annoying at first, the player quickly gets used to this limitation. The controls also add an element of tension to the game that would not be present with traditional controls. The player quickly gets used to the controls and learns to shoot the zombie hoards that are almost always attacking them. The game does feature some puzzles, but they are minor in nature and easily solved. The story involves the protagonist Leon Kennedy hunting for the daughter of the United States President. Fortunately the game contains little references to the previous Resident Evil games, so new players will not be confused by the games plot. Unfortunately the plot does have a negative impact on the gameplay. The player is tasked with protecting the daughter of the President. This is often incredibly annoying. Despite this minor gripe, Resident Evil 4 is a fun and unique shooter that is still playable today.
