Product   Prototype screens for CD-ROM
 
Overview    A grant was given by the Department of Defense (DoD) to work on a CD-ROM project. The purpose of this CD-ROM was to inform DoD employees on cultural norms from other countries so as to prepare them for overseas assignments.

Our team of 4 graduate students selected China as our project destination. Our task was to gather applicable content and put them together in a multimedia format. 
 
Tasks  

1) research on subject matter
2) storyboarding
3) preparation of assets - graphics, content, etc.
4) programming
5) putting together each team's contribution
6) testing
7) working out bugs
 
Responsibilities    Contributed to all of the above tasks.
 
Lessons
Learned		  
  • Teamwork is essential to the success of a 

    • multimedia project.
  • Keep to assigned deadlines. Team members need each other's completed segments to move forward.
  • Expect the unexpected. There are always "bumps" along the way, e.g., unforseen circumstances may require a team member to leave the project before completion thus leaving the team shorthanded. 
  • Design plans may change anytime. 
  • Give ample time for testing.
