The fourth site is the Military and Historical Image Bank, managed by a private art firm, who has begun to branch out into the artifacts of various wars and time frames. Don Troiani, the artist and collector, has a heavy emphasis on the Civil War, and other American history items, but also has several areas of European social history items. The site is updated regularly and is well maintained. The support staff for the site is most helpful and is willing to do offline searches for a particular item if necessary. Once an item is ordered, it is sent through the email, on a slide or on a transparency depending on the intended use and the needed resolution. The site is well organized and presented, with easy navigation at the top and bottom of each page. The historical interpretation comes from the selection made of what to post on the site. Although they are always looking for more artifacts, and Mr. Troiani paints often, not everything is presented on the site. The ideal audience for this site includes Civil War buffs and those interested in American artifacts, mostly from the 1800s through World War II, with a small sample of pre-1800 European artifacts.
