The communication in Tanzania is based on two satellite stations, one which is in the Indian Ocean and the other which is position over the Atlantic Ocean. There are about 150,000 fixed telephone lines with a subscription rate of one subscription for 100 inhabitants, thereby making it extremely unlikely to have a fixed telephone line in the household. However, there is a wide use of cellphones, with the cellphone population at 31.9 million people using it and a subscription rate of 100 inhabitants per subscription. The use of cell phones has put this country’s ranking at 37.
