With as many participants as the statistics demonstrate, the result of Facebook must be advantageous in more ways than one. The most obvious benefit involves the ability to connect, as well as, reconnect with friends, family, and coworkers. It is made easy to search for long-lost friends and regain a friendship by simply typing a name in the designated search space. There are also options to narrow down and filter one’s search in order to guarantee a positive outcome. By gaining “friends” and becoming an active user, Facebook helps to promote an interconnected world. The growth and formation of new relationships are able to transpire as a result of common interest groups, events, advertisements, photos, and mutual friends.
According to Adam Duberstein (2010) of Ohio Dominican University, Facebook can be used academically because students are constantly checking and updating their page. It may be a useful tool to make it easier for teachers to adapt to their students (Excessive, pg. 5). The ever-changing layout of Facebook is always being modified in order to adjust to its users and, at the same time, remain true to its original concept. This social network invites a wide range of members from all ages and professions to share stories, thoughts, hobbies, and talents to a close group of friends or to the public. Mark Zuckerberg introduced the world to a new way of communicating and socializing that is both convenient and entertaining.
