With the inundation of information we all face in this information age it is easy to become overwhelmed and overextended. In order to prevent or alleviate the symptoms of "information overload," Superior Government Designs, Inc. designs and implements Knowledge Management Systems for our clients. Knowledge Management Systems go beyond simply adding and storing numbers to a database--Knowledge Management Systems allow for the preservation and communication of an organization's valuable knowledge. The most valuable resource an organization possesses is not the information on its books or inventory in its warehouses, but it is its employees and the knowledge stored within their heads. There are two types of knowledge, explicit and tacit. Explicit knowledge is more tangible and lends itself to be easily stored. Tacit knowledge, on the other hand, is more intangible--stored in employees heads--and if preventive measures are not taken, that valuble knowledge can walk out the door with the employee. Our clients choose us to help them prevent this "knowledge walkout." Due to the nature of the subject matter, we must work closely with our clients' to create a customized knowledge management system to meet their unique needs. |
