Our History
SGD, Inc. was formed in 1998 when a George Mason University graduate, Stephen Diehl, decided to start his own company. He felt that hardwork and perserverance do get rewarded and that the best and toughest boss he could work for, would be himself. He founded SGD to be a haven for likeminded individuals driven by a desire to succeed. Although SGD, Inc. is a relatively young company, it is growing rapidly. Early and continuous success have enabled SGD, Inc. to prove to more mature consulting firms that it is truly a force to be reckoned with.
What follows are the important milestones in the history of our company:
- June 1998: Business plans are developed by Stephen Diehl to start his own consulting company.
- August 1998: Funds are raised to begin operations and Fairfax headquarters.
- November 1998: First major project completed. Success spreads through government by word-of-mouth.
- March 2000: IPO--Company goes public and lists on Wall Street as "SGD."
- June 2001: SGD, Inc. becomes one of Forbes "100 Best Small Businesses."
- September 2002: SGD, Inc announces plans to expand in 2003.
- March 2003: SGD, Inc. CEO interviewed for upcoming issue of Fortune magazine--attributes success to his employees and GMU education.
