What's the Issue?
Yemen is in big trouble. According to the WHO, the country is a “humanitarian nightmare” and “their greatest challenge” as its people are placed in the most severe crisis in today’s world. The country is plagued with ongoing war, poverty, and hunger. As the civilians are placed in a catastrophic conflict, the country is spiraling rapidly towards a dangerous future.
Famine
Various experts believe that the country is 4 years from experiencing a famine. But for many, the famine has become their reality. Here are some statistics to help you better understand their situation:
- Over 80% of the population does not have regular access to food
- 1/3 of the population has major gaps in their diets
- 20 million Yemeni people are food insecure
- More than 1 million women and 2 million children are malnourished
If we do not help them, the situation will only get worse. Although there are other organizations doing their part to help these people, we want to provide our help through our resources. At the end of the day, we are ticking against the clock that decides Yemen’s future.
