ICT Readiness of Egypt

A Proposed Development Project to Meet This Need

In order for Egypt to move out of the developing country stage and into the developed stage the need to perform three main operations. First, the Egyptian government must fund a project to run fiber along the coast of the Red Sea where other populated cities sit with little ICT readiness. If this project goes well than a second one should be undertaken to run additional fiber southwest from the northeastern border toward the western border of Chad and cutting a diagonal through the country. This second cable can then easily be branched out through the center of Egypt as the demand for access increases. The Third operation involves creating a public WiFi in large cities like Cairo where the trunks for access already sit. However the key is getting access to the 75% of the country which can only connect via satellite.
