My grandparent’s moved into their house 1971,
from Fort Worth, Texas. They moved to
Louisiana with hopes of a better and cheaper life. The house has pictures of
three different generations, so it allows me to see and appreciate how far our
family has come. The house itself instills citizenship because it allows me to
understand the history of my family and how they contributed their small amount
to this country. I remember sitting around and just talking for hours about how
much life has changed since my grandfather was a child, and I loved just
listening to some of their stories about their past. For instance although
slavery had been over for a while, my grandparents would tell us about the
sharecropping they had to do and the little money they would earn for their
long days work. Or they would tell us about the times where they were not
allowed to go to certain restaurants or public areas because they were African
American. Although these are not the
ideal stories a child should learn about their grandparents, I feel that it
just made me more grateful for what I have in my own life. Click one of the following below to view my learning experience....
