Government
- Zimbabwe is "officially" a Parliementary Democracy, however Mugabe has transformed it into a Presidential Regime.
Since becoming President, Mugabe has transformed Zimbabwe into a one party state ruled by the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic
Front (ZANU-PF).
- Mugabe's government has been accused of numerous human rights violations, especially towards the LBGT commmunity. Mugabe's government has also been accused of being extremely corrput.
- In 2013 Zimbabwe had a constitutional referendum that vastly changed the current Constituion of Zimbabwe. The biggest change is implementation of Presidential terms to two five-year terms. However, this does not apply retrospectively, meaning President Mugabe will be able remain in office until 2023
- Other changes (both good and bad) include:
- Elimination of 5 Senate seats that were normally appointed by the President
- Ban against same sex marriage
- Strengthening womens rights, and improving freedom of expression
