Economy
- Up until 2000 Agriculture was Zimbabwes main source of income. However, in 2000, President Mugabe began seizing land owned by White Zimbabweans and redistributing it to his supporters. This led to a food crisis and drove the Zimbabwe economy downwards.
- During the years 2000-2008 Zimbabwe suffered from massive hyperinflation, inflation rose 231 million percent. Due to such high inflation in 2009 Zimbabwe officially adopted the U.S. dollar.
- Another issue with Zimbabwe's economy is unemployement, which is currently at 95%.
- Even though Zimbabwe's economic conditions are terrible, it does have some positive conditions. Zimbabwe exports most of its resources to China, South Africa, Congo, Botswana, and Italy. Due to President Mugabe's land acquisition policy Zimbabwe is forced to import most its food from South Africa and China.
