Mayor John Smith first got started in politics in 1976 as an aide to then Townsville Mayor Jack Carson. He continued his career rising through the ranks of city councilmen and eventually to Mayor in 2008. In his first term Mayor John Smith balanced the city budget by cutting hundreds of millions in wasteful spending while also helping to create a lot of jobs for the community, with a focus on gender equality. The unemployment of Townsville dropped to a stellar 3% overall, and nearly equal rates between men and women in the city.

Mayor John Smith has fought for equality and all peoples rights at every step in his political career. Smith campaigned to enhance and protect all peoples freedom of religion, as well as defended the city residents' right to own firearms.

Also, he loves cheeze-whiz.
