Color Meaning
Color theory is the practice of using meaning behind color to bring about the sensory experience, consumers do have emotional responses to colors. Use color with purpose depending on your audience, purpose and the feel you want to create.
Colors are separated into primary, secondary and tertiary.
- Primary are red, blue and yellow
- Secondary are orange, green and purple
- Tertiary are middle colors like yellow-green and blue-green

- RGB is short for Red Green Blue, which are three primary colors of the system and produced with light. This is used with TVs, computers, monitors and most screens.
- CMYK is short for Cyan Magenta Yellow and Key (Black) – created by pigments and is used in print.
- Designs on the web should be created using the RGB system

Warm colors: red, yellow, orange
Cool colors: blue, green, purple
Neutral colors: brown, grey
Red: fire, power, passion, energy, excitement, rage, emergency, anger
Orange: joy, sunshine, ignorance, deceit
Yellow: happy color, joy, intelligence, brightness, optimism, energy
