Introduction

This site will explore my progress in the Ph.D. Program in Special Education. Throughout my life and career, two things have remained constant. One is my need to set goals and accomplish them. I work to reach my full potential and strive help others with disabilities do the same. The second is my interest in government and a deep sense of patriotism.

As I contemplate which path to take as I pursue my educational and professional goals, I am reminded of the challenge, excitement and peace that I feel when I am kayaking. I cannot think of a better metaphor for my Ph.D. program than paddling. In the program I have already experienced times when I am riding with the current as well as days riding against it. The river is often unpredictable, but it has constants from which I gain my bearings. Whatever direction the river goes, it is sure to teach me something new everyday and is certain never to be boring!
