The Empowerment of Technology

Conclusion

Becoming technologically literate opens doors for a host of information and it enables convenience and accessibility. It even correlates to social status. It is said that a child will spend three times as long on a computer in the home than they do in school on average.(Jewitt, 2006) A privileged child is no smarter than the one who was impoverished, its just that the privileged child may have had access to more resources due to technology. A person that is not taught how to use a computer in this day and age is equivalent to someone who couldn’t read and write 40 years ago. So, ideally, technology must be made accessible to everyone because it is a fundamental and empowering skill to have as time advances. Nonetheless, “Technology is to America , like gas is to a vehicle.”
