James W. Harvey, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Marketing

James W. Harvey Professor Jim Harvey received his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Penn State University, MBA from the University of Miami, and BS from the University of Illinois at Urbana.

Dr. Harvey's professional interests include strategic planning and marketing management both for profit and not-for-profit organizations. He has participated in over one hundred marketing studies, taskforces, consultancies and executive development seminars for managers of profit and not-for-profit organizations, including Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management; Department of Health and Human Services; Fairfax County Park Authority; Federal Trade Commission, Graydon Manor Psychiatric Hospital; Internal Revenue Service; Kodak, Inc.; National Academy for Voluntarism; National Glass Association; National Institutes of Health; The World Bank; and United Way of America. Dr. Harvey has also published over thirty works in journals, proceedings of professional associations, and in books of readings.

Dr. Harvey's recent activities include Distance Education using LiveBoard; introducing Governor Gilmore to the SOM Distance Education efforts at George Mason University; teaching CLASSNET in the Interactive Classroom in Enterprise Hall of George Mason University; leading the session "Internet Cafe" at the Mid-Atlantic Marketing Research Association; co-authored with Dr. Suzanne Swope the study "Post Baccalaureate Students' Views of George Mason University"; and the chapter "Marketing Challenges for Health Care Organizations, "for Nursing Administration Strategic Perspectives and Application, Second Edition, Appleton and Lange.
