Seeing the practical value of technology, Professor Harvey jumped at the chance to teach in two places at once using LiveBoard. When two or more LiveBoards are linked, they allow Harvey and his students real-time interaction using a wealth of information from hard disk, network server, the Internet, CD-ROM, laserdisc, and videotape. LiveBoard can run any Windows application and enables students to share, and alter,"live" documents. Using the whiteboard, they can also write messages or illustrate ideas with a light pen, or "electronic chalk." Everything displayed or written on one screen is visible on all others simultaneously and can be saved to a computer file for future use.

"LiveBoard gives you a rich multimedia environment," says Harvey, who used the device last spring to teach two introductory marketing courses at the same time on the Fairfax and Prince William Campuses. "It provides a student-focused learning experience and allows us to simulate many aspects of the business world of the present and near future - things like remote conferencing, joint decision making, group databases and document authoring, and distance teaming. Plus, because LiveBoard is networked, it provides an interactive gateway to the world's knowledge."
