" James W. Harvey is an Associate Professor of Marketing in the School of Business at George Mason University. Professor Harvey received his Ph.D in Business Administration from Penn State University, MBA from the University of Miami, and BS from the University of Illinois at Urbana.
Dr. Harvey's professional interests include strategic planning and marketing management both for profit and not-for-profit organizations. He has published over thirty works in journals, proceedings of professional association, and in books of read ings, including the Academy of Management Executive, Business and Society, Health Marketing Quarterly, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Economic Psychology, Journal of Professional Services Marketing , Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, and Long Range Planning, and in the proceedings of the American Marketing Science, and The Institute of Management Science. Professor Harvey is also occasional reviewer for Health Care Financing Administrati on, Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, and Journal of Public Policy and Marketing.
He has also participated in over one hundred marketing studies, taskforces, consultancies and executive development seminars for managers of profit and not-for-profit organizations, including Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management; Departme nt of Health and Human Services; Environmental Protection Agency; Fairfax County Park Authority; Federal Trade Commission; Graydon Manor Psychiatric Hospital; Internal Revenue Service; Kodak, Inc.; National Academy for Voluntarism; National Institutes of Health; and United Way of America.
Professor Harvey's currently chair of the SBA Technology Committee and is active in distance learning and intranet initiatives. His other service to the University and the community has included President's Strategic Plan for University Computer S ervices; School of Business LAN Committee; MBA Nonprofit and Public Track; Secretary, Courtland Landowners Council, Inc., Leesburg, Virginia; and Goose Creek Scenic River Advisory Board. He also volunteers for Clifton Presbyterian Church, Clifton Days an d Fairfax County Fair. Professor Harvey recently addressed the Fairfax County Senior Managers Team service quality for nonprofits."
