The Earth Team is the volunteer arm of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District is in partnership with NRCS, and hence as a stream monitor, you are also part of the Earth Team.

Membership is not automatic, you have to register.

Why take the time to register? As an Earth Team member,

• Earth Team volunteers receive tort and injury coverage in the event of an accident.
• You become part of a national network of volunteers.
• The program also helps to keep track of your hours.

To register: As a stream monitor, you are also an Earth Team volunteer, but you have to register. You then call or email in any hours you invest into your stream monitoring adventure.
