1999 IOOB Information and Registration

CONFERENCE DATES AND TIMES AND LOCATION:

The IOOB Conference will be held in the state-of-the-art Johnson Center on the George Mason University (GMU) campus from Friday, March 19 to Sunday, March 21. Event times are as follows: Friday 6:30pm-9:00pm, Saturday 8:30am-6:00pm, and Sunday 8:30am-12:30pm.

HOTEL:

The Hyatt Fair Lakes is offering the rate of $95 per night for students attending the IOOB Conference. This rate applies to single and double occupancy. Triple occupancy is $120 per night and quad occupancy is $145 per night. We suggest you double, triple, or quadruple up to cut down on costs.

The Hyatt is conveniently located approximately 7 miles from George Mason University. It is directly off I-66 at Exit 55B, Rt. 7100 North/Fairfax County Parkway, at 12777 Fair Lakes Circle, Fairfax, Virginia (see map below). Guest rooms are furnished with entertainment area, work station, hairdryers, coffee makers, irons and boards, two phones equipped with dataport capabilities and voice mail. The hotel also offers complimentary parking and use of the health club featuring an indoor heated lap pool, jacuzzi, sauna, exercise and weight room.

Space is limited, so make your reservations early! Any reservations received after February 18 will be taken on a space available basis at prevailing hotel rates. For reservations call the Hyatt Fair Lakes at (800) 233-1234 or (703) 818-1234.


TRANSPORTATION:

The Hyatt is located less than 10 miles from Dulles International Airport and 20 miles from Ronald Reagan National Airport.

If you fly into Dulles International Airport, you can take advantage of the Hyatt's complementary shuttle service by making a reservation in advance (800-233-1234 or 703-818-1234).

If you fly into Ronald Reagan National Airport, you have three options (from most expensive to least expensive):

  1. You can hail a cab for approximately $45 to the Hyatt.
  2. You can call Super Shuttle/Washington Flyer at 1-800-BLUE-VAN (1-800-258-3826) from the airport courtesy desk upon your arrival and they will pick you up in 15-30 minutes and transport you to the Hyatt or GMU for $19 for 1 passenger ($8 more for each additional passenger). When returning to the airport from the Hyatt, you are required to make a reservation with Super Shuttle/Washington Flyer 1-2 days in advance.
  3. You can take the Metro for $2.10 (non-rush hour: after 8:00pm weekdays and all weekend) or $3.05 (rush hour) one-way. Take the Blue Line toward Addison Road. Transfer to the Orange Line (on the lower level) toward Vienna at the Rosslyn Transfer Station. Get off at the last station (Vienna). The Hyatt offers complimentary shuttle service to and from Vienna Metro with advance reservations (800-233-1234 or 703-818-1234).

Parking at GMU will be free for all cars parked in Lot K. Those parked in other lots will be ticketed.

Please note that all conference activities will be taking place on George Mason University's campus, NOT at the Hyatt.

RECRUITMENT BREAKFAST:

New to IOOB! If you are ready to search for a job, locate an internship, or learn more about professional openings in Industrial / Organizational Psychology and Organizational Behavior, the Recruitment Breakfast is a great opportunity for you! A select group of firms will be represented by individuals seeking to make professional contacts with students who will be on the job market in the near future. This breakfast (Saturday morning from 8:00-9:00am) is an open forum for students and firm representatives to meet informally, exchange business cards and resumes, and make meaningful contacts regarding possible future employment. The breakfast is sponsored by the firms represented and is included in the cost of conference registration. If you are interested in attending, please indicate accordingly on the registration form and bring business cards and copies of your resume.

FOOD:

The following meals are included in cost of conference registration:

Friday: There will be a reception with hors d'oeuvres before and after the opening keynote speaker, Dr. Richard Klimoski, at CrossRoads located in the Johnson Center at GMU from 6:30pm-9:00pm. For those of you not quite ready to retire for the evening there will be a hospitality suite at the Hyatt that evening.

Saturday: There will be a continental breakfast in the Johnson Center at GMU from 7:30am-9:00am. Lunch will be served at 12:30pm in the Johnson Center during Dr. Michael Campion's address. You will have the choice of a vegetarian entrée which includes fresh vegetable stir fry over couscous, toasted herbed pita wedges, and house salad or a non-vegetarian entrée of chicken florentine with tri-colored rotini, fresh baby carrots, and rolls and butter. Both entrees come with dessert, coffee, and/or tea. Please indicate your selection on the registration form.

Sunday: A continental breakfast will be served in the Johnson Center at GMU from 7:30am-9:00am.


ENTERTAINMENT:

Please join us on one of our entertainment outings on Saturday night from 8:00pm-1:00am to include Downtown DC, Adams Morgan, or Georgetown. Three complimentary charter buses will run from the Hyatt to these locations. All buses will leave the hotel at 8:00pm. Buses will return students from all locations at 11:00pm and 1:00am.


REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT INFORMATION:

The pre-conference registration fee is $45 and must be postmarked no later than February 19, 1999. The on-site registration fee will be $55. Please send a check or money order made payable to: GMU/IOOB Conference along with your registration form. Sorry, credit cards will not be accepted.
