Explore

Explore is not the word that comes to mind when faced with the sight of a Moon Jellyfish. However, this sea creature is a perfect example of a being that explores and is interesting to explore. The Moon Jellyfish floats leisurely under the waves, trolling for microscopic animals that constitute its diet. The jellyfish is approachable from a variety of angles, patiently tolerating the diver-photographer's curiosity and allowing human eyes to enjoy the intricacies of its form. But the experienced diver knows that such exploration is not without danger and is wise to maintain some distance.

The research courses in this voyage to the doctorate enabled me to explore the phenomena I've observed along the way by providing the tools I need to answer the what, when, and why questions that new knowledge always generates.
