Capitalizing on IM and using it to benefit a company will be essential for businesses to communicate efficiently and to stay up with competition. This is important because the use of IM in the corporate sector is on the rise, “roughly 85 percent of all North American companies use IM, according to a recent report by market research firm Radicati Group”, also “of U.S. companies that have deployed internal IM networks, 44 percent did so to boost interoffice communications, Radicati found” (Domis, 05). Before a company decides to implement IM into their daily operations they should weigh its benefits and risks to ensure that it is right for their particular company.
