Education
Below is some information about my current education as of Summer 2017. This includes my time at NOVA, and my time as George Mason University.
Associates Degree
From Summer 2014 to Spring 2016, I attended Northern Virginia Community College at their Loudoun County campus.
I completed my Associates degree there, earning a Liberal Arts degree within four semesters. Some of the most influential courses I took there included courses that brought me out of my comfort zone to create content for online viewing.
Courses At NOVA
- HIST 121: United States History–This course was taught half online, and required the creation of a video project. For more information, visit my portfolio page.
Bachelors Degree
As of Fall 2016, I have been attending George Mason University as a student in the English Department, working towards a degree with a concentration in Writing and Rhetoric.
Thus far at Mason I have completed many intriguing courses, some that I would never have imagined that I would have taken in my wildest dreams.
Courses At Mason
- ENGH 399: Creative Nonfiction–A course that taught me about creating interesting nonfiction for publication. For more information on this work, visit my portfolio page.
- HIST 375: History of the Appalachian Trail–A course that not only taught me history, but allowed me to create an online exhibit of my research using Omeka. For more information, visit my portfolio page.
Thus far, my college education has given me great knowledge about the workings of the publishing industry, beneficial writing skills, as well as allowed me to explore areas I am unfamiliar with such as creating webcontent from scratch, using other web creating sites such as Omeka, and have gained insight into how to professionally publish content online.
