HTML Basics

In order to begin designing your web page, make sure you have the appropriate tools.

  1. Download a program to type your code into. Notepad or Notepad++ are good options that are available for free.
  2. Make sure you have an updated internet browser to view your work. Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are good options.
  3. Find some good references to help you better understand web design. Elements of User Experience: User-Centered Design for the Web and Beyond by Jessie James Garret is easy to use and available online through Mason's library (so, it's free).

This is what your page should look like before you add in content.
