Future Uses

The future of the smart watch is not as much about smart watches, but more about wearable technology in general. Wearable technology is a continuously changing environment where yesterday’s device is half as good as today’s. Devices like wearable smart glasses, contacts, and even belts join the list of wearable technology.

The smart watch has paved the way for other wearable technology to come forth. Wearable technology is technological devices that can be worn or implanted on the body. This is also commonly referred to as the Internet of Things, which is just connecting all our devices, like our lights/light switches, and even our washers and dryers. Wearable technology has many other various names, like fashionable technology and wearables. Wearable technology has advanced greatly in recent years. Google developed its Google Glass, which worked as a heads-up display worn as a pair of glasses. It featured many awesome features like a 720p camera and voice commands, much like today’s “Ok Google” voice command.

There are many other uses for wearable technology, including media devices, sport tracking, and GPS navigation. As our screens get bigger and our technology gets smaller, the usefulness of smart watches becomes greater.

Smart watches will continue to develop and become a more useful tool for everyone. Not only will the development of smart watches increase, but the development of wearable technology will as well. Someday soon there will be smart glasses to tell you all of your information on a heads-up display. Someday soon there will be interconnected devices everywhere we go, smart watches are the stepping stone to that.
