Ethical and Legal Implications
Smart watches have many similarities to smart phones. There are some curtesy rules to follow when using them. For example, do not use a smart watch at the dinner table, do not use a smart watch when on a date, and overall, do not use smart watches when smart phones are not allowed. Smart watches are also now frequently used by cheaters. Some of the smart watches available allow someone to view even take pictures. Students might use this feature to have notes on their watch and use them during tests. Many of the standardized tests, such as the SAT and ACT do not allow the use of smart watches or other smart devices used by the student during the test.
While yes, it might seem that smart watches are not a useful invention for society, they do have some major benefits. First off, they are keeping us more connected than ever. Some people might consider this a negative, but it is widely seen as a positive. For example, if someone has a flight, that information is now picked up by Google and put through your email and automatically goes to your smartwatch so you are never late. You are also able to navigate places with your smart watch, making everything that much more connected.
Smart watches can either be very useful, or very useless, depending on who the user is. If they have all their information synced through their email or Google account, a smart watch would be the way to go. If they do not have their information synced through their email or Google account, they would not benefit as much from a smart watch.
