According to Arvanitis and Loukis (2009), information and communication technology (ICT) refers to technology such as e-mail, PDA’s, smart-phones, teleconferencing, videoconferencing, intranet, internet and extranet used as means of communication (p. 46). Information and communication technology has become a vital piece of the workplace and has many uses, both positive and negative. Instant Messaging and an intranet throughout the office has now become a common means of communication (Stephens and Davis, 2009, p. 67). Information and communication technologies are also being used to create Global Virtual Teams. Communication advances, “facilitate communication and the sharing of information among team members,” (Shachaf, 2008, p.131). The goal of this paper is to highlight key benefits, challenges, and future required research of information and communication technology.
