In the long term, those that suffer from the digital divide will fall behind in the job market as well as global news, and education. At this rate, the global south may not even be able to compete with the global north. If the global south can’t compete, then global inequality will continue to run rampant, leaving billions of people in poverty. If we were to fix this, everyone will be on an even playing field, and can have all the opportunities life has to offer. To make things simpler, we can take the US as an example. For starters, the US is the only developed country with a digital divide (Longley 2017).
