I gave a talk covering my dissertation proposal last Friday. It was a long time coming, and I’m glad it’s finished; now the real work begins. I did, however, put a lot of love into illustrating my slides. Here are some samples:

Unraveling the boundary of a Möbius band.

Demonstrating relative homology by collapsing the yellow region to a point. This turns the (red) \(1\)-cycle into a relative cycle, and the \(1\)-chain into a relative cycle.

Finding loops in the dual of a \(d\)-RST.
