Technology Integration in World Language Learning

Assessing Language Proficiency of Teacher Candidates

Adolescent English Language Learners with Interrupted Schooling

Research & Scholarship

Dr. Fox conducts research in several key areas. Programmatic portfolio development and implementation, portfolio utilization for performance assessment, portfolio alignment with program learning outcomes, and program evaluation reflect over ten years of extended research that began with her dissertation work. Several recent program level portfolio studies she has conducted have focused on ways that portfolios might be used to measure program effectiveness, capture teachers’ attitudes and dispositions toward reflection-based inquiry, and document program growth and development through portfolio evaluation. As a researcher on two NEA funded grants, she has recently completed studies that examined the dimensions of portfolio development as evidences of teaching readiness as manifested in Professional Development Schools (PDS) and non-PDS program participants. In the areas of foreign/second language acquisition, Dr. Fox conducts research on the language acquisition of adolescents with interrupted schooling and on the use of technology in the foreign/second language classroom. Dr. Fox’s research and scholarship includes numerous presentations, book chapters, research and journal articles and reports. Several of her more recent publications & presentations are listed below:
