The United Republic of Tanzania is ranked 113 in The Global Competitiveness Index 2010-2011 ranking. Tanzania is a country in East Africa which has Kenya to the north and Malawi to the south Indian Ocean is its eastern border.The name of Tanzania came from two states, Tanganyika and Zanzibar. These two states joined each other in 1964 and created the United Republic of Tanzania and Zanzibar which later on changed to United Republic of Tanzania. Tanzania has 26 regions. 21 of the regions are located on the mainland and the rest in Zanzibar. To increase local security and power they have total of 99 districts. Dodoma is the capital of Tanzania and that is where all of the government offices are located at. Dar es Salaam was a temporary capital of Tanzania before 1996 and now it is a commercial city.
