Scenario Two:

Home Alone

A student in your class will have to move to Peru in the middle of the semester, but she really loves your class and wants to finish the class with you. With thousands of miles apart connected by videoconferencing, what can you do to keep her engaged in class activities?

Mission One

A laptop with built-in camera will be assigned to you, and a headset with microphone. Be following the instructions in the Help Center page, you will need to set up ConferenceMe to your laptop and connect yourself to the class.

Mission Two

Each group will work on a pilot class on a topic of your choice, to include the student study at home. Make sure that all the teaching materials should be easily accessible to the student, and include the home students in group activities with local students.

Mission Three

Except for the two students teaching the pilot class from classroom, all the other students will be monitoring the pilot class from home, in the shoes of the home students.

Mission Four

Write down in your journal your reflection on this scenario, and what you have learned from the pilot class and how to incorporate those effective practices into your class.
