We are now seeing vehicles equipped with 4G/LTE Internet connectivity, which means IP security cameras, will begin to appear in vehicles. Imagine an ambulance equipped with a camera that is capable of audio and video that is accessible by a doctor in the emergency room. This application can save precious seconds as the EMT’s and the hospital staff prepare for the patient.

The Cloud is also being explored for use with IP cameras. Having the cameras FTP video footage to the cloud can ensure the data is never lost due to hard drive or computer failure. The cloud will also be able to give complete access to the recorded footage to anyone with a browser. The current challenges with Cloud video storage is to ensure the files are uploaded without loss of data. The ability to control the file size is very important for streaming to and from the cloud that is why IP camera manufactures aren’t marketing cloud capabilities yet.
