Development
Notes:
Metacognition
and reflection are crucial to a learner's construction of knowledge and
understanding. This feature will allow an individual learner to record items
of particular interest and encourage him/her to provide proper credit by
citing sources. In addition. the learner will be encouraged to interpret,
hypothesize, make connections, and draw conclusions in this private setting
so s/he may analyze and refine his/her thinking.
Record and Reflect will essentially operate as a notepad, but will be backed
by database programming to enable the instructor/facilitator to track the
learner's entries and progress. The Record button will pop up an entry form
that prompts the learner to cite his/her source. Upon submission of such
a "record," the learner will receive a message that asks, "Would
you like to reflect upon this entry?" to scaffold such reflection.
The learner may, of course, choose the Reflect button at any time. whether
a note has been recorded first or not. The learner also has the option of
editing prior notations and reflections.
The page below shows what the "view" page might look like after
a few learner interactions and responses. |
