Tips for the Grammarian

To Prepare for the Meeting

The General Evaluator will call you to confirm your participation in this role
Select a "Word of the Day" -- this may be a word that:
You don't know until you pull it from the dictionary
You hear incorrectly used frequently
Be as creative as you wish
Make up a sign with the word in large letters so that it can be seen by the speakers and the audience
Be prepared to define and use the word in a sentence when your role is introduced

During the Meeting

When you get to the meeting, set up your "Word of the Day" in the room
Everyone is fair-game to the Grammarian - when anyone speaks, keep track of:
Ahs/Ums (Try to keep a numerical tally of these. This is one of the types of measurable feedback that a speaker gets and can see immediate improvement, i.e. from 15 uhs to 9 uhs)
"and" at the beginning of a sentence
grammar do's and don'ts
people who use the "Word of the Day"
When you give your report, be sure to give recognition to those who use the word of the day and who show good grammar usage.
