For Teachers

In this problem based learning environment you will act as a facilitator and not in the traditional role of teacher. As a facilitator you will begin the unit by forming groups and introducing the problem to the groups. You will not give any instruction to the students or offer your knowledge or opinion. You are there to help to monitor team progress and to help students stay focused.

You must be careful not to guide the groups to the "correct" answer. The goal for students is not to find the answer that the teacher wants but to develop critical thinking skills and problem solving skills while studying in this domain.

The following links will give you more information about problem based learning, your role as a facilitator, and how to assess students.
