With technology advancing every day, we are able to get the news and other media information at the click of a mouse, sometimes even at the tap of a finger! Majority of the nation’s, along with the world’s major newspapers are posted online for the public to view and read at their own time and pace.
Digital revolution has made it so much easier for the media to distribute the news in terms of money and in terms of supplies and products used (Walmsley 2009). Hundreds of thousands of newspapers are produced each day, using paper, killing trees, and of course using money. Newspapers in their original paper form have the problem of being stored, therefore it is much easier to store them digitally (Deacon 2007). The digital revolution has also allowed for the producers of these newspapers a second option, a better option, to distribute the news in a more orderly, efficient, and even in a green manner.
Along with news distribution, searching the news online is more efficient than going through and scanning majority of the articles in the paper edition. The search options on the websites provide a simpler and more stress-free way of scanning the article with the proper and adequate information you needed (Deacon 2007). Many people often describe the paper edition “out-of-date, out-of-touch,” some even call it “yesterday’s news!” (Grensing 2009). One common form of distributing the news is through blogging. According to Stone (2009) blogging has the same sense of journalism – “they don’t plagiarize; they do disclose their sources; they do link sources; they do give credit for art and photos.” (Grensing 2009)
But according to Austin (2009):
are still used today but the manner in which it is used in is different (Grensing 2009). There is always going to be one thing better than the other in one way or another, but it all matters how it is used to its full advantage. During the internet era, almost everything can be found digitally even the books Austin is talking about.
