Background

Newspapers have been circulated throughout America since the late 1300s, serving as a primary source of communication among people. It all started with the technological advances of Johannes Gutenberg‘s printing press, which he used to publish the first papers during 1451. Gutenberg’s first documents were a German poem, and then a forty-two lined bible, that eventually led to the printing of our papers today. (Wilkinson,2009).From these earlier centuries to now, people have defined newspapers as a “printed” document on folded sheets of paper that are usually delivered to their doorstep. Not as an online source that isn’t a direct source. Newspapers are widely known as one of the fastest methods to relay information to masses of people. Each paper usually contains categories such as the weather forecast, local news, classified ads, obituaries, comic strips, advertising, and sometimes food recipes of the week. Each of these sections are comprised together to inform ample amounts of people daily. Nationally, over one million newspapers are sold daily, and almost 2 million are specifically sold on Sundays. (Karp, 2007). From this information we can see that online print hasn’t affected the processing of printed newspapers.
