Holly Ho Chen received her BS in Chemical
Engineering in 1962 from National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan, MS in Chemistry in
1966 from University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California and Ph.D. in
Chemistry in 1969 from the University of California at San Diego in La Jolla, California.
In 1970-1973 she taught as an Assistant Professor in Christopher Newport College in
Newport News, Virginia. In 1973-1975 she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in
the Department of Biological Sciences in Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey. In
1975-1978 she worked as a Research Staff Fellow in National Institutes of Health (NIH) in
Bethesda, Maryland. In 1978 she joined the faculty at George Mason University as an
Assistant Professor. In 1985 she was promoted to Associate Professor and tenured. She has
been teaching General Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. She has also worked for over 20
years in the field of DNA in collaboration with NIH scientists. In the past few years she
has applied DNA research in Medicine: Prevention and Treatment of Septic Shock by
Antisense Oligonucleotides in collaboration with the scientists in Naval Medical Research
Institute in Bethesda, Maryland.
