President

Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid

Current President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh

The Bangladesh government has been an important feature of the country's history. The independence of Bangladesh was brutal between the eastern Bengali people, and its colonial master, British. The Bangladesh constitution was created in 1972, which guaranteed the human rights and the political freedoms to the people of Bangladesh. Checks and balances were integrated into the Bangladesh constitution, which is closely similar to the laws in the United States and the United Kingdom. As time passed, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman the hero of the 1971 war in Bangladesh amended the Constitution. After the war, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman became the dictator of Bangladesh. As time passed, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman died, and his successors were mostly military men who forcefully took and held power in Bangladesh. Today, the struggle for democracy still continues in Bangladesh.
