Magical Sue was a sad old leper who lived in the woods and practiced alchemy with her cat, Beef Tips.
Sometimes children came to her cottage looking for fairies and goblins.
Sue enjoyed whacking them around a bit with her broom.
One day, while sufficiently smacking a young orphan boy named Thomas, she heard the boy exclaim something interesting:
"Yowch! This is a worse beating than the one once given to me by Magical Hugh, curer of leprosy!"
Poor Sue had been searching for a panacea for years, to no avail. This boy--and by extension, this "Hugh"--might have had the answer she needed.
