Web Site Evaluation 1 (WS1)

I will evaluate student web sites twice this semester (see the syllabus for the WS1 and WS2 deadlines). WSE1 is worth 60 points; WSE2 is worth 90 points. The following elements represent the minimum requirements for WS1. You must include (at least):

• Some/any content inside a table (the table does not have to be visible, just use the table to format the content – tables are especially useful when you wish to have 2 or 3 columns of information
• Critique 1 in HTML (as a web page)
• Use at least 3 different formatting tags (bold, italics, color, etc.)
• At least one image
• At least one link outside your site

WS1 is fairly simple because the major task is getting to know an editor and/or Dreamweaver, and actually posting and updating the site.

Web Site Evaluation 2 (WS2)

The following elements represent the minimum requirements for WS2 (worth 90 points).

First, any elements missing at the time of the WS1 evaluation should be added (see my critique of your work).

Second, post Critique 2. C2 must be properly formatted (headers, typeface, spacing, etc. consistent with those posted on my web site). Click here for an Example.

• Use Ariel type face throughout
• Use HTML type sizes '5' for Title, '4' for primary headers, '3' for secondary headers, and '2' for text.

Third, post your PowerPoint presentations from your class presentations. Go to posting Powerpoint on the web for directions. I strongly recommend you NOT use "frames" in your site (BTW, I'm going to revamp my site and get rid of my frames)

• An overall "theme" (can be as simple as "My Web Page," or based on a true "theme" or idea)
• One or more graphic images or pictures on the Home Page that support the overall theme
• A title for your home page
• The tasteful use of color
• A clear indication of the available content (typically, some sort of menu)
• Links clearly identified (avoid underlining non-links)
