Mason English Department Chair's Challenge: 224 miles, 24 hours!

My route starts from Falls Church, VA, and takes me out to Poolesville MD, Shepherdstown, WV, Berkeley Springs, WV, and Winchester, VA. Then it's back toward home, with stops in Purceville, VA, where I'll get on the Washington and Old Dominion bike trail, Herndon, VA (also on the W&OD trail) and finally the Key Briidge Marriott at the end of the Custis bike trail.

It will be nice that the last 45 miles or so of the ride will be all bike trail, since I'll probably be pretty tired by then!

Cultural points of interest on the route include Shepherdstown, home of Shepherd College and the Contemporary American Theater Festival, Berkeley Springs, originally named Bath after the city in England (both have warm springs), and Winchester, which will be preparing for the upcoming 83rd annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival (April 23 - May 2).   And of course, Northern Virginia, home to George Mason University!
