Graduate positions
Ph.D. in Environmental Science
& Public Policy
Our lab has a funded fellowship available for a student
who wishes to
conduct research on the role of insects in altering autumn plant
phenology. Individuals with a minimum 3.7 GPA and minimum GRE
score of 160 on both verbal and quantitative, a B.S. degree in
Biology or Chemistry, and an interest
in
plant-insect interactions are encouraged to apply.
Preference
will be given to students who have completed a M.S. degree or who have
prior research or publication experience in the field of plant
biochemistry or entomology. The research involves rigorous fieldwork in
both hot and
cold weather, as well as laboratory benchwork. The project
also involves canopy exploration, so applicants should not have a
fear of heights. The application deadlines for Fall admission

Our lab has space available for students who wish to conduct research on rhizobium-mediated plant-insect interactions, native pollinator decline, or butterfly evo-devo. Individuals with a minimum 3.5 GPA and minimum GRE score of 155 on both verbal and quantitative, a B.S. degree in Biology or Chemistry, and an interest in plant-insect interactions are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to students who have prior research experience in rhizosphere biology, genetics, anti-oxidant chemistry, or botany and entomology. The research will involve field and greenhouse work, as well as laboratory benchwork. Applications for M.S. students in our department are accepted for both Fall and Spring semester admission, and deadlines for submitting applications are Jan 15th and Oct 1st (M.S. in ESP) or March 15th and Nov 15th (M.S. in Biology).M.S. in Forensic Science or Biology (with graduate certificate in Forensics)
Our lab has space available for students who wish to pursue research in forensic entomology. Individuals with a minimum 3.5 GPA and GRE score of 155 on both verbal and quantitative, a B.S. degree in Biology or Entomology, and an interest in field-based investigations, analytical chemistry, and molecular biology are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to individuals with knowledge of insect taxonomy or genetic techniques.Staff and Learning Assistant Positions
Volunteer and LA positions are available for individuals with a background in insect taxonomy or experience with specimen curation. We are seeking a self-motivated, meticulous person to assist in the organization and renovation of our Biology Program''s teaching collection, which includes preserved, pinned, and fossil specimens of aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates, reptiles and amphibians, mammals, and plants. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Preference will be given to applicants who can begin working in the Fall semester of 2015.
