Web Design

Methodology for Web Authoring and Design

Introduction

With little to no web design or web authoring experience before taking ENGH 375, I've learned a lot about HTML and CSS. One thing I highly encourage, is to be patient. When working on a project or web design, set aside some time to just focus on the coding itself. Do not let yourself get distracted and do not get fustrated. Coding takes time, practice, and patience. I've also learned that the web is the best tool for learning code, learning new coding techniques, and to read forums on how people are struggling to learn, just like us. Take the time to look on websites and read about techniques and different codes.

Getting Started

First, you need a reason to design a website and that concept has to be clear and precise. Most people come to a website with a particular reason in mind, and you want to make sure your site fulfills the needs or wants of the person who visited it. I highly suggest coming up with a plan. This would include writing down everything that you want to be on the website, your purpose, and your main audience. Next, start thinking of a design concept. I personally belive the cleaner the website is, the better. Today, modern style is all the rage, with clean cut lines and crisp finishes, so why can't websites be this way as well? Make your design apealing to the eye and to the brain. Make it easy to navigate, easy to read, and essentially dummy proof. We are looking at our page 1000 times, but someone who is looking at it for the first time needs to know exactly what to do and where to go. Once you have an idea, it is time to start creating. For more information on HTML,CSS, and Images and Design, go to the navigation bar on the top on click on each specific page. At the bottom of the page, there are also several links with templates and other resources to help you design and create your webpage.
